Shah Alam City Guide

Shah Alam

Shah Alam is more a residential part of the Greater Kuala Lumpur area than a dedicated tourist destination as such. There is, however, a fair amount to see and do in the city, the capital of Selangor state, and much of the local economy now relies upon tourism.

Points of interest:

“This ‘Blue Mosque’ is a symbol of the supremacy of Islam and the sovereignty of Muslims in Malaysia”. Its architecture and intricate decorations both Islamic and Malay elements

Intricately designed aluminium grills are another feature found on walls, doorways and windows. In the latter, they are complemented by stained glass that allows subdued light through. This is further accentuated by the high ceiling which is lined with triangular panels of red balau and ramin timber wood set in a criss-cross fashion. Pinball lights set in the ceiling are reminiscent of a starlit sky.

Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque

I-city is a technology park located on the outskirts of Shah Alam. At night the place comes alive with an amazing forest of man-made trees brightly illuminated with millions of colourful LED lights.
